President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s elections across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers states, describing their mandates as a “sacred trust” from the people.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw polls in the FCT’s six area councils, alongside by-elections in Rivers State’s Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies and Kano’s Municipal and Ungogo constituencies. Results favoured the All Progressives Congress (APC), yielding significant political gains.

In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged the victors to “serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication.”

He singled out FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for praise, noting his “remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Tinubu also extended congratulations to the APC national leadership, as well as party structures in Kano and Rivers.

The President lauded INEC, security agencies and voters for ensuring a peaceful process.

“Democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition,” he said, commending the “courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants.”

Tinubu affirmed that the elections strengthen Nigeria’s democratic culture and called on INEC to “continue improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.”
