The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as its new National Chairman following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at Newton Hotel and Resort, Abuja.
The NEC also approved the appointment of Senator Ugochukwu Uba as National Deputy Chairman (South), and Mrs. Rosemary Effiong as National Labour and Civil Society Secretary.
The party’s NEC further took disciplinary action against former chairman, Shehu Gabam, and others, suspending them over alleged financial misconduct, embezzlement, and diversion of party funds exceeding N1 billion.
The move follows the earlier suspension of Gabam in June last year over similar allegations, as well as a Supreme Court ruling recognising Gombe’s leadership.
