Kano State government, Thursday night, insisted that Mohammudu Sanusi 11 remains the Emir of Kano while directing the Police Commissioner to immediately evict Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, from his current résidence at the mini – palace in Nassarawa area of the metropolis.
Speaking to the media following the ruling by the Federal High Court presided by Justice A M Liman, Kano State Attorney General, Isa Dederi explained that the court’s ruling has unequivically reaffirmed the validity of the law passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and assented to by the Governor of Kano State on Thursday 23rd May, 2024 by 5.10 pm
He explained that the implication of the courts ruling was that all actions done by the government before the emergence of the interim order of the Honourable Court were equally validated.
” This means that Muhammadu Sanusi II remains the Emir of Kano” the Attorney General stated.
Happily, the signing of the law and the reinstatement of His Highness, Emir Muhamamd Sunusi II were done on 23rd May, 2024 before the emergence of the Interim Order which was served on us on Monday 27th May, 2024,” he noted.
Dederi, flanked by the Commissioner of Information and other top government officials in the state also informed the media that the court had granted their application for the stay of proceedings pending the outcome of their appeal on jurisdiction currently before the Appeal Court.
He further noted that following the ruling, the State Government has directed the State Commissioner of Police to remove the deposed emir of the 8 metropolitan local governments from the Government property where he is trespassing as Government has already concluded arrangements for the general reconstruction and renovation of the property including the demolishing and reconstruction of the dilapidated wall fence with immediate effect.
He congratulated the people of Kano State and urged them to remain peaceful and celebrate the success without any hitch.
