An investigation has revealed that the order given by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to all the Adamawa PDP stakeholders to go back to their constituents for consultations to pick their best eleven (11) for political appointment as compensation for their contribution to the governor’s and PDP’s victory in the just concluded 2023 governorship election, is flagrantly being violated by the PDP Yola-North chapter.
Our investigations have revealed that, the Chairman of PDP Yola-North, Abdullahi Sarki (Audu Kacisa) is secretly visiting some PDP critical stakeholders in the local government in an attempt to persuade them to submit names of their cronies to form the list of the best eleven (11) as directed by Governor Fintiri.
Our sources have confirmed to this media house that all the stakeholders visited by the Chairman have refused to agree or consented to the request. Our correspondent reliably gathered that all the stakeholders contacted by the Chairman spoke in unionism – that the instruction given by Governor Fintiri should be strictly adhered to, that a list of 15-20 people capable of becoming the First Eleven (11) be presented from each Local Government after due consultation will all the people,
A further dig into the matter by our correspondent revealed that the move by the Chairman of PDP Yola-North was at the behest of the former Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Mallam Bashir Ahmed. Political pundits contacted for comments said- Bashir’s motive was to give legitimacy to any list that they may have assembled to achieve some hidden interest. And, once some of the stakeholders agree to present some names, Bashir and the Chairman will present the list as a product of consultations with all the constituents in all the eleven (11) wards of the Local government. Furthermore, in a way to circumvent his dismissal from the PDP Yola-North Stakeholders, once some of the stakeholders fall into the trick, Bashir’s name will also be inserted in the list, as no ward Exco is likely to present Bashir as one of their best eleven (11), the pundit said.
In another development, the former Adamawa SSG has continued his house-to-house visits to some prominent Adamawa citizens to beg them to press for his return as SSG. Reports have also indicated that Mallam Bashir is also contacting some close allies of Governor Fintiri, requesting them to launch some public relations in some electronic media houses especially radio stations political programs on his behalf to facilitate for his return as SSG, while promising them he will do whatever they want if Governor Fintiri reappoints him. Some of the Yola-North Stakeholders spoke to, said, Mallam Bashir’s moves are action in futility; because his dismissal from the stakeholders’ forum still stands, and all the stakeholders have agreed to follow to the letter, Governor Fintiri’s instruction- that the appointment list of the best 11 will be a product of consultation and a true representative of the wishes and views of all Yola-North PDP family at all the eleven (11) wards, they further said that, they won’t allow what happened in 2019 to repeat itself – where one man sat down, compiled the list which has not only hurt the PDP Yola North but the party’s influence and fortunes in the local government area as the whole state as well.
