Police Arrest 2 Suspects Supplying Fuel To Bandits In Bauchi

Police in Bauchi State have disrupted what they described as a critical logistics supply line to bandits with the arrest of two young men allegedly ferrying fuel to bandits in Mansur, a community in Alkaleri local government area of the State.

The suspects, Ayuba Ahmadu and Danlami Ayuba, both 25-year-old, were arrested with a staggering 560 litres of fuel intended for bandits operating in the area. Addressing journalists on Wednesday at the Bauchi State Police Command headquarters, the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafi’u Habib, said the arrest followed sustained intelligence-led operations aimed at cutting off supplies to criminal groups.

According to him, each suspect was intercepted on a Honda motorcycle, with 280 litres of fuel loaded in containers, raising immediate suspicion.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to selling fuel and other logistics to bandits,” SP Habib disclosed, adding that the operation underscored the command’s determination to dismantle the support networks that keep bandits operational. The police said investigations were ongoing to track down other collaborators, warning that anyone aiding or abetting criminal elements will face the full weight of the law. Our correspondent reports that the arrest comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to choke the flow of supplies to bandit groups, a strategy authorities believed is key to restoring peace in affected communities.
