PDP Stakeholders in Adamawa Rally Behind Fintiri, Pledge Greater Youth Empowerment

As preparations intensify for the 2025 party congresses, the Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday brought together top party stakeholders at the Government House, Yola. The meeting, which attracted political leaders from across the state, was marked by gratitude, unity, and a renewed commitment to placing youth at the centre of the party’s future.

In his opening remarks, State Party Chairman, Barr. A.T. Shehu, lauded the steady progress recorded under PDP leadership and expressed appreciation to party members for their unwavering support over the years. With a tone of humility and reflection, he hinted that this could be his last time presiding over such a high-level meeting as chairman—an emotional moment that underscored both his legacy and the need to prepare for generational transition within the party.

The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, speaking on behalf of the legislature, reaffirmed the Assembly’s loyalty to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and to the PDP. He stressed that continued collaboration between the executive and legislative arms remains crucial for sustaining good governance, stability, and delivery of the party’s development agenda.

Representing members of the National Assembly, Senator Binos Yaroe commended Governor Fintiri for repositioning Adamawa on the national map through visible projects and infrastructural development, noting that the state is increasingly seen as a model for effective leadership and governance.

Governor Fintiri, in his address, declared that the gathering was more than a routine political meeting, describing it as a platform to celebrate, inspire, and invest in the younger generation. “This is our moment to uplift and promote the younger generation to greater heights,” he said, reaffirming that both his administration and the party will continue to prioritise youth empowerment through purposeful policies, targeted programmes, and opportunities that will allow young people to thrive in politics, business, and society.

Turning to the upcoming party activities, the governor charged PDP leaders at all levels to ensure transparent and credible ward congresses scheduled for Saturday. He emphasized the need to field candidates who are capable, disciplined, and genuinely committed to the ideals of the party, while also making deliberate efforts to involve young people in leadership and decision-making processes.

Speakers at the meeting consistently called for unity, discipline, and loyalty to the PDP, warning against internal divisions that could undermine the party’s strength. There was a strong consensus that building on internal cohesion, combined with the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth development, would give the PDP a solid advantage as the congresses and future elections approach.

The meeting ended with a renewed sense of direction and shared optimism, with participants pledging to work together to consolidate the party’s dominance in Adamawa State and to project its influence at the national level.
