National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations put in place by the party ahead of 2027 general elections in Imo State and Nigeria.
Anyanwu, who was the party’s governorship standard bearer in the 2023 election, disclosed this at the weekend while addressing state Executive Committee, comprising the local government areas chairmen, ward and women leaders, and critical stakeholders at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, Imo State.
He said the party members must work in harmony to achieve the goal, noting that the gubernatorial election was important to the party in order to take over the power in Imo State.
Anyanwu said: “Imo people are tired, frustrated and deceived by the present administration to the extent that Imo citizens have lost confidence in the government. The only better alternative for them must be the PDP. My joy is that our party is well-positioned, astute and popular to win the 2027 election in Imo.”
He opined that there were no longer differences in the party with the judicial pronouncement by the Supreme Court.
“The current leadership of the party in the state is doing well in the areas of galvanising the people, making peace and creating good platforms for the party’s victory. Our ward, LGA Chairmen, women, leaders and stakeholders are doing exceptionally well to create a good image for our party. ”What I am seeing today has convinced me that PDP is formidable and we are prepared to take over the state in 2027,” he said
Anyanwu expressed optimism that the party had good followership with renewed vigour and interests to bring back its fortunes, and win new members over.
The PDP scribe revealed that it is not in his best interest to run for governorship in 2027, noting that every qualified and popular member of the party is free to contest in the gubernatorial election or any position he/she deems fit.
