Okpebholo approves ₦75,000 minimum wage for Edo workers

Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved a new minimum wage of ₦75,000 for workers in Edo State.

The announcement was made by the governor at the Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City during the celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had earlier decried that N70,000 is not even enough as the take-home pay for civil servants.
Governor Okpebholo said that that is the way of encouraging civil servants and saying thank you to them.

He said, “Today, I am proud to announce that our administration has approved a new minimum wage of Seventy-Five Thousand Naira (N75,000) per. It’s our way of saying thank you,” the governor said at the event.

“We believe this will make a real difference for Edo workers, and in return, we count on your renewed dedication as we build a better Edo together.”
