The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has taken significant steps toward providing sustainable living conditions for displaced individuals by relocating internally displaced persons (IDPs) to newly constructed durable settlement homes in the Dauchi Community, located in the Song Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State.
Mr. Maliki Hamidi, the Head of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), confirmed on the organisation’s X handle that approximately 60 houses, comprising 120 rooms for 50 households, have been constructed for IDPs and returnees.
Hamidi noted that the resettlement programme is set to conclude on Friday, aiming to ensure that all participants receive their designated houses.
He stressed that the project would continue to focus on durable solutions that align with global efforts to create sustainable living conditions for displaced persons.
“This relocation event demonstrates the power of collaboration in addressing displacement challenges. We are grateful to USAID for their generous funding,” he stated.
The resettlement programme will last for five days to ensure that everyone involved receives their assigned house. This initiative is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
