NBC Reaffirms Commitment To Youth Empowerment

Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people and supporting the growth of the country through its new short documentary about its Supply Chain Academy (SCA). The documentary, called “Powering Potential: Inside NBC’s Supply Chain Academy,” gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at NBC’s long-established training program. It highlights how this academy has changed to become a key place for developing future leaders in Nigeria’s manufacturing and supply chain industries.

The newly released documentary features powerful testimonials from graduates, trainers, and senior leaders who share how the Academy has shaped careers, uplifted families, and contributed to national development.

Director of People & Culture at NBC, Jolomi Fawehinmi shared that the academy’s program is carefully designed to provide young trainees with both technical skills for specific jobs and important leadership abilities.

He stated, “the academy combines classroom learning with hands-on experiences, where new students can participate in practical training, including working on mini production lines and using simulators for driving and safety training.”
Fawehinmi also mentioned that trainees have access to important on-site facilities like a clinic, canteen, library, and digital learning lab.

She emphasised that this training represents NBC’s commitment to investing in young talent, preparing them to be the professionals and leaders of the future.

The Supply Chain Capability Development manager at NBC, Idehen Ilesanmi, added that the aim is to help trainees reach a level where they can meet international standards in leadership and technical skills.

She explained, “we are not just teaching them how to do their jobs; we’re helping them become problem solvers and innovators in the industry. I see our academy growing even larger, driven by a team dedicated to sharing knowledge and excellence.”

One of the trainees, Qadri Oluwatobiloba, expressed gratitude for the valuable experience he gained, saying that the program exceeded his expectations.

Another former trainee, Blessing Eze, who is now a full-time employee, talked about how the initiative allows trainees to smoothly transition between different roles within the company.

Since it opened in 1996, the technical training school has made great progress, with many graduates successfully moving into permanent roles and making important contributions in various departments. The impact of this training reaches beyond NBC, influencing many companies in the manufacturing sector.

Today, the NBC Supply Chain Academy has become a comprehensive learning center covering all areas, including planning, purchasing, production, and logistics.
