The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has said that the newly inaugurated accommodation blocks and sports complex for Nigerian Air Force personnel reflect his deliberate and sustained commitment to improving the welfare of officers and men.
Aneke made the remark on Tuesday while commissioning the facilities at 055 NAFCAMP, Legico Barracks, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The CAS explained that the facilities were designed to move beyond the traditional barracks concept and to offer more dignified and modern accommodation for personnel.
“These facilities represent a significant departure from the traditional barrack concept to which we have long been accustomed. Distinguished by thoughtful architectural design and executed to the highest standards, they stand as a remarkable edifice, both functional in purpose and pleasing in appearance,” Aneke said. He emphasised that his command philosophy centres on building a highly motivated and mission-ready Air Force capable of delivering decisive airpower in support of national security objectives.
“My command philosophy is to enhance and sustain a highly motivated professional force capable of delivering decisive air power effects in synergy with surface forces,” he added. He assured personnel that adequate housing would continue to receive priority attention under his leadership, noting that comfortable living conditions enable officers and men to focus fully on their operational duties.
Aneke urged beneficiaries of the facilities to maintain them responsibly and with a strong sense of ownership.
“Use these structures as if they were your own homes. Let them remain a source of comfort, dignity and motivation for both present and future occupants,” he charged.
The CAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Government and the National Assembly for their support and fiscal interventions that made the projects possible.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to contributing effectively to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government and to ensuring the security and stability of the country.
