- The Adamawa State House of Assembly has refuted rumors that the Lamido of Adamawa has been stripped of his position as Life Chairman of the State Council of Emirs and Chiefs.
At a press conference on Friday, Musa Mahmoud Kallamu, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, clarified that the bill establishing the Adamawa State Council of Chiefs explicitly states that the Lamido of Adamawa remains the council’s chairman.
Kallamu further explained that Section 17 of the bill establishes the council, while Section 18 outlines its membership, which includes first-class chiefs, second-class chiefs, the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, and the ALGON Chairman.
He emphasized that the Lamido of Adamawa’s position as chairman remains intact and is not impacted by the creation of zonal traditional councils. These zonal councils will operate with rotational chairmanship but are required to report directly to the state chairman, the Lamido of Adamawa.
