He said, “It is not only Obasanjo. All Nigerians leaders are unanimous about a change in government. Everybody believes that the current administration is not doing well. The reason Obasanjo is mentioned is because he is the only one that is outspoken,” the source added.
The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is in talks with all leading opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
This was disclosed to LEADERSHIP by a top source in Kwankwaso’s inner circle, who said the former Kano State governor has been having talks with African Democratic Congress (ADC), former presidential candidate, Peter Obi and former presidential aspirant and Transportation minister, Chibuike Amaechi.
The source further said Kwankwaso is in talks with PDP, and other opposition figures in a bid to build a formidable opposition.
The source, who pleaded anonymity because he was permitted to speak, said, “Kwankwaso is a politician. He is talking to all the groups. I know he is talking to ADC people, he is talking to Obi, he is talking to Amaechi. He is talking to the PDP.
“We are discussing with a view to bring all the opposition together,” he said.
The source, who also confirmed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo, was behind the opposition movement, claimed that other prominent Nigerians believe the current administration has not lived up to expectations. He said, “It is not only Obasanjo. All Nigerians leaders are unanimous about a change in government. Everybody believes that the current administration is not doing well. The reason Obasanjo is mentioned is because he is the only one that is outspoken,” the source added.
