Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has commended security agencies for rescuing 21 kidnap victims during a joint operation in the state.

Four suspects linked to the abduction were arrested during the operation.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mua’zu, said at the weekend that the governor praised the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force for the “professionalism and courage displayed during the operation”.

According to him, the victims, comprising 16 women, two men and three babies, were rescued at Dargaza Hills in Danmusa Local Council. They were kidnapped from Gidan Sarkin Bayero village in Musawa Local Council and other locations. He said 19 of the victims are Christians, while two are Muslims, describing the development as evidence of the indiscriminate nature of banditry.

The operation, which also involved members of the State Community Watch Corps, targeted the enclave of a notorious bandit leader, Kamilu Chiroma, also known as Buzaru.

“This successful rescue demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-drivenoperations and the synergy among our security agencies. The State Government wishes to assure citizens that the suspects will face the full weight of the law upon completion of investigations,” the government said.

It added that the administration remains committed to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace across the state.
