President Bola Tinubu received spiritual encouragement from a visiting imam during Jumat prayers at Lekki Central Mosque on Friday, with the cleric praising his administration’s developmental strides and urging steadfastness despite criticisms.
Salahudeen Arriyadhi, the guest imam, commended Tinubu for ongoing projects in his sermon, titled “Unity in Diversity” and “Remembering the Day of Judgement.” He advised the president to remain focused on his vision for Nigeria, emphasizing resilience in leadership.
“You cannot satisfy everyone at the same time,”he told the congregation, quoting Quranic teachings to underscore divine expectations of rulers. “Allah was happy with leaders who listened to the cries of his followers but unhappy with leaders who do not attend to the needs of the led.”
The imam also prayed for Tinubu’s success, declaring, “We are praying for you, and you will succeed.”
Turning to national unity, Arriyadhi highlighted human diversity in color, tribe, religion, language, and nation as a deliberate act of Allah’s wisdom, not a source of division. “Diversity is a sign of Allah’s Wisdom. If Allah had wanted every one of his creations to be one, he would have created them one. Diversity in religion and tribe should not be a source of problems,” he stressed, calling it a foundation for harmony, learning, and unity.
Tinubu, who arrived in Lagos on December 20 for the end-of-year festive season, was accompanied by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. He was warmly received by Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and mosque management.
