Group Calls for the Investigation of TCN’s Former General Manager

A group of concerned electricity sector workers has called on the relevant agencies to investigate the former General Manager of Project Coordination at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Joseph Ciroma Almajiri.

Our investigation reveals that the call by the group was necessitated by the alleged move by Mr. Almajiri to be appointed as the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The groups said Mr. Almajiri massively supported the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election in southern Kaduna; however, Mr. Almajiri has now made a move to be appointed as MD of the TCN under the Bola Tinubu administration.

This medium has recently carried a report on the allegation against Mr. Almajiri. Below is the full report.

There are allegations of massive corruption, maladministration, and violations of work ethics against the former general manager, who has retired from service, but it’s alleged that he left so many unsolved corruption cases against him, according to some sources. It’s alleged that the massive malpractices were perpetuated with the connivance of an SA in the office of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

One of the lingering cases, as alleged, is money collected for unattended training programs. For instance, some sources say the African Development Bank (AFDB) has written to the TCN requesting a refund of the monies. Moreover, the sources allege that there were funds appropriated for the development and upgrades of the electricity distribution network system; the sources say that the funds were gotten from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through an SA in the office of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. However, it was alleged that Chiroma didn’t use the funds.

Some workers of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have dragged the company’s general manager and project coordinator, Engr. Joseph Almajiri, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations and abuse of power against him.

Recall that some TCN workers have written a petition requesting the EFCC to look at the earlier petitions they wrote against Al-majiri on July 27th, 2022, and October 21st, 2022, which were submitted to the former Minister of Power.

Some sources say Mr. Almajiri has enjoyed what he did and is now plotting to be made the Managing Director of the TCN, but the biggest obstacle against him is that he actively sponsored the Labour Party in Kaduna South in the Presidential Elections and the many corruption allegations against him, including his dual citizenship and that of his family, the sources alleged.
