Governor Fintiri Attends NGF Meeting as Governors Move to Tackle Rising Insecurity Through Technology

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, participated in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) meeting held in Abuja. The meeting was chaired by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Following deliberations, the Forum resolved to establish a sub-committee tasked with collaborating with heads of security agencies to address Nigeria’s escalating security challenges. This decision came after a detailed presentation by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, on technology-driven security strategies.

General Musa introduced an innovative security initiative aimed at bolstering both national and sub-national capacities for early threat detection and a more coordinated response to crises. The proposed project outlines the phased deployment of cutting-edge technology and infrastructure to enhance surveillance, improve crisis management, and promote public safety across the country.

The governors expressed strong support for the initiative’s objectives, emphasizing the urgent need for technology-enabled solutions to address the complex and evolving security threats faced by states.

They also commended General Musa and the Nigerian military for their commitment and proactive efforts in advancing modern security strategies.

The NGF’s resolution comes at a time of heightened violence and insecurity, particularly in states such as Plateau, Benue, Borno, and Kwara, where communities have been severely impacted.
