The former Bursar of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Mrs Olayemi Bajomo, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 78. She was a devout Christian who loved God passionately.
Her burial programme will begin on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with tributes and commendations at 4:00 p.m. The Christian Wake-Keep will be held at 5:00 p.m. at First African Church, 5 Oyingbo Road, Ebute Metta.
Her body will lie in state on Thursday, May 1, 2025, starting at 8:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. promptly at First African Church, 5 Oyingbo Road, Ebute Metta.
Born on January 15, 1947, Mrs Bajomo began her education at Ago Ijaiye Primary School in Ebute Metta and then attended Methodist Girls’ High School (MGHS) in Yaba. At MGHS, she excelled academically and in sports, particularly in sprints, winning several medals and representing the school in various meets. She then pursued Accountancy at Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech).
After obtaining her National Diploma from YabaTech, she secured employment at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba.Mrs Bajomo later joined the Nigerian Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Yaba and eventually moved to Lagos State University in 1983.
During her time at LASU, she had a successful career and became the University Bursar in November 2000, retiring in 2005. Bajomo’s passion for God was evident from a young age. She sang in the choir, co-founded the Christ Morning Star Society at First African Church Mission (FACM), formerly United African Church, and was actively involved in various church activities, including the elders’ group and benevolence. Her home also hosted the Winners Chapel Area Fellowship in Agbara for many years.
