The Bata Community under the umbrella of Bata Community in Jimeta District has written a letter to the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, intimating the Lamido on the need to preserve the history and the sanctity of Adamawa Emirate.
The group said Jimeta is among the five districts (Yola, Girei, Namtari, Mayo-Ine) close to the seat of power of the Adamawa emirate and always being led by people who are a lineage of Modibbo Adamawa or Offspring of those married from the Royal family.
The group thank the Adamawa emirate for the historic trust between the emirate and the Bata people which resulted in the Bata community constantly holding the position of Magajin Gari, Sarkin Sulke, Tuta and Njumbo. The group further said Jimeta is a riverbank community, all the village heads at all the riverbank communities are Bata, and, the majority of ward heads in Jimeta are Bata.
The letter was signed by the Chairman of the community, Abdulsalam Bakari Mailabuje, and Felix Levi its Secretary
