Borno State Police Command, led by Commissioner Naziru Abdulmajid, has disbursed ₦20,137,770.34 to families of officers who died in the line of duty.
The payment is part of the Inspector General of Police Group Insurance and Welfare Scheme (IGP IWES), which provides financial support to next-of-kin and families of fallen officers.
Police command spokesman ASP Nahum Daso said on Sunday in Maiduguri that nine families across the state benefitted under the scheme, highlighting the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of personnel and their grieving families.
Represented by his deputy, Ibrahim Sumaila, Commissioner Abdulmajid emphasized that the welfare of officers and their familiesremains a top priority.
He described the scheme as a testament to the IGP’s compassion, accountability, and leadership in honoring officers who sacrificed their lives for national peace and security.
Sumaila urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to support education, healthcare, and general well-being. On behalf of the recipients, Modu Ishaku expressed gratitude to the IGP, promising prudent and judicious use of the disbursed funds.
