Suspected bandits have levied preachers in Utouno village in Ngaski local government area of Kebbi State to pay a N100 million before they (the preachers)would be allowed to preach in the town.

The threat came after a group of suspected Lakurawa bandits attacked some communities in Arewa South under Kangiwa local government area of Kebbi State and killed 33 people.

In a letter they sent to the community leaders in Utouno, the terrorists warned residents not to treat the message lightly.

A community source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent in Birnin Kebbi that the letter has thrown residents of Utouno into panic.

The source added that in their letter, the terrorists noted that they are not afraid of anybody, including soldiers.

While confirming the letter, Kebbi government spokesman said measures have been taken by the government to forestall any attack.

According to the spokesman, Governor Nasir Idris is up and doing on security matters and already, he has directed the Commissioner of Police to dispatch more security personnel to the area to halt any possible attack by terrorists.

At the time of filing this report, security presence has reportedly been reinforced in Utouno village and its environs while residents in the area remained on high alert.
