Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday praised “Honourable Minister of Sports, Distinguished Senator John Owan Enoh, and the entire Ministry of Sports” for organising a vibrant and flawless National Sports Festival (NSF).
Akpabio stated this in a speech delivered at the closing ceremony of the NSF hosted by Ogun State on Thursday, which was posted on his verified Facebook page on Friday morning and sighted by this reporter.
The only challenge: Enoh ceased being sports minister in October 2024 when President Bola Tinubu scrapped the Ministry of Sports, which was replaced by the newly established National Sports Commission (NSC).
Former LMC-NPFL Chairman, Shehu Dikko, was also appointed as the commission’s chairman.
Akpabio’s gaffe caught the attention of eagle-eyed netizens and sports journalists, with some taking to the comment section of the Facebook post to point out the error.
The post has since been edited to erase the error.
