The Adamawa State Government has secured a N12 billion intervention fund from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to revamp its basic education sector, following the successful defence and signing of the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Matching Grant Action Plans in Abuja.

The agreement, finalised at the UBEC headquarters, reflects the state’s strategic commitment to improving learning infrastructure, enhancing quality assurance, and introducing initiatives in sports and agricultural education.

These efforts are aimed at creating a more conducive and holistic educational environment for pupils across the state.

The action plans were defended by the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, who was accompanied by his directors and desk officers.
UBEC’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, commended Adamawa’s proactive approach and described the plan as a significant step toward educational excellence. She praised the state for its dedication to ensuring access to quality education for all children.

The signing of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) took place in the office of UBEC’s Director of Finance and Supply, Adamu Misau, with key officials in attendance.

Dr. Babayi acknowledged the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose timely release of counterpart funds made the intervention possible.

He assured that the state is fully prepared to begin implementation immediately, pledging effective use of the funds to deliver a lasting impact.
