According to a report by Channels TV, on Saturday November 7, 2026, Senator Ali Ndume has dismissed claims of active political opposition in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, describing key figures of opposition parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “diaspora” politicians who lack any physical connection or structure on the ground.

Speaking on the political landscape of his constituency, Ndume highlighted figures such as Dr. Mohammed Musa Tumala, noting that key political opponents have long been absent from the community.

“Besides Tumala who is not resident in Gwoza, who doesn’t come to Gwoza, who has never been to Gwoza, who has never been to Gwoza for the last 15 years, we have ADC in diaspora,” Ndume stated. “That is, we hear them, we see them on the social media, but you came yourself. Have you seen any ADC office or poster posted on anybody’s house in Gwoza? As we went around, it is yet to happen. Maybe later, but there’s no ADC in Gwoza.”

Ndume argued that effective representation and political standing stem from physical presence and ongoing engagement with grassroots constituents, rather than digital campaigns on social media platforms.

He pointed out that visible political infrastructure such as party offices and campaign posters remains non-existent for opposition groups in the area.
