Identity theft and impersonation, electronic payment fraud, cyberstalking, and online exploitation have been identified as some of the prominent digital threats used by scammers and hackers to exploit, stalk, coerce, or harm people.

Using this year’s annual sensitisation campaign, with the Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society approach, the Joint Case Team on Cybercrimes, under the Federal Ministry of Justice, is urging Nigerians neither to fall victim to nor participate in online fraud, warning that the day of reckoning awaits offenders. The team maintains that cooperation is essential in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting cybercrime offenders.

In a bid to secure Nigeria’s digital future, the forum agreed to take the message to the grassroots, stressing that even after many years, the long arm of the law will still catch up with perpetrators.
