Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has urged cultists still in hiding to surrender, renounce violence and embrace rehabilitation. He made the appeal after witnessing young people across the state publicly renounce cultism and pledge to pursue a peaceful future.
Okpebholo commended the young men for their decision to turn away from violence, describing it as a victory for their families, communities and the future of Edo State. He stressed that no cult group was worth killing a fellow citizen over.
The governor said his administration remained open to genuine rehabilitation for those willing to abandon cultism. However, he warned that anyone who continued engaging in criminal activities would face the full force of the law.
Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to building an Edo State where young people contribute to development rather than violence and bloodshed. He urged residents to embrace peace, unity and progress as part of his administration’s vision for a “New Edo.”
