The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has applauded security agencies and other groups involved in the successful rescue of sixteen Corps Members abducted in Kogi State on 26 August 2026, while travelling from the Bayelsa State Orientation Camp to Abuja after completing their Orientation Course.

NYSC particularly commends the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Kogi State Vigilante groups and others for their professionalism, courage, commitment and coordination during the search and rescue operation. The Scheme also acknowledges the unwavering support of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for the safety and welfare of Corps Members nationwide.
In a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, NYSC reaffirms its commitment to the safety and welfare of all Corps Members, saying it would continue to work with government and security agencies to strengthen protective measures. The scheme notes that lessons has been learnt and protocols would be reviewed to prevent a recurrence.
