Former Kogi West Senator and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dino Melaye has criticised President Bola Tinubu for serving as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
Melaye described the arrangement as “disgraceful” and questioned why Tinubu, as the presidential candidate, would also chair his own campaign council. He argued that the decision suggested a lack of confidence in other senior members of the APC.
He also criticised the appointment of Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, as Deputy Director of Fundraising for Tinubu’s campaign. Melaye argued that the role could create a conflict of interest because Adedeji heads a government revenue agency.
Melaye said he would approach the court on Monday, August 24, to challenge Adedeji’s appointment, arguing that public officials are expected to maintain political neutrality under public service rules.
The APC campaign council lists Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as vice chairmen, and former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General.
