Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has recounted the emotional reaction of a father whose son was arrested over alleged cult-related activities.
According to Disu, the father, upon learning of his son’s arrest, reportedly expressed anger and disappointment, saying, “Kill him!”
The IG said the incident highlights the difficult choices parents may face when their children become involved in cultism and other criminal activities.
Disu’s account also underscored the need for parents to pay closer attention to their children’s associations, behaviour and activities, particularly as authorities intensify efforts to tackle cultism and violent crime.
The story has sparked discussions about parental responsibility, discipline and the consequences of allowing young people to become involved in criminal groups.
