FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has predicted a larger political coalition in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying recent political realignments could bring more politicians into the President’s camp.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday, August 21, 2026, Wike linked the development to Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke’s recent visit to Tinubu, describing the engagement as part of efforts to build a “larger Rainbow Coalition” despite politicians belonging to different parties.

“What happened last night is meeting to rebuild a larger Rainbow Coalition. And he (Adeleke) is supporting Mr President. He’s in a different party; I’m supporting Mr President, and I’m in a different party. So, it’s a larger Rainbow Coalition,” Wike said.

Wike also dismissed claims that the African Democratic Congress played a decisive role in Adeleke’s Osun victory and argued that the opposition remains weakened by internal divisions within the PDP. He predicted that more political developments would emerge in the coming weeks as politicians realign ahead of 2027.

The minister spoke while inspecting FCT projects, including the N5 Extension in Life Camp, N1 Road and the rehabilitation of IBB International Golf Club. He said the projects were targeted for completion or reopening in December, while stressing that the golf club should become financially self-sustaining after rehabilitation.
