Oghenegaren Esiovwa-Thompson has etched his name into Nigerian sporting history, winning the country’s first-ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships.
Competing in the men’s U-23 epee event at Rugby School Nigeria in Atlantic City, Lagos, the 16-year-old delivered a stunning performance on Sunday, defeating Asian champion Lokesh Vemani of India 15–5 in the final to claim the top prize.
