Minister of defence, General Christopher Musa, says Nigeria and Benin Republic have reached new agreements to strengthen defence cooperation and tackle shared security challenges.
Musa disclosed this after a three-day working visit to Benin Republic, where he met Benin’s Minister of National Defence, Gildas Agonkan, and the country’s military leadership.
According to Musa, both sides reviewed their existing defence partnership and agreed to deepen cooperation in areas including defence capacity building, innovation and other strategic interests.
He said the agreements are expected to strengthen regional security, support peace across West Africa and help prevent criminal groups from exploiting security gaps between the two countries.
