Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has personally inspected the ongoing construction of the Adamawa State College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies in Gulak, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing the institution as a strategic investment in the state’s human capital and economic future.

The on-site assessment, conducted on Friday, placed the governor directly at the construction site of one of his administration’s most significant education infrastructure projects in the Madagali corridor of northern Adamawa, where access to tertiary technical and vocational education has historically been limited.

“This institution is not just about building structures. It is about building the future of our youth and the economy of our state,” Governor Fintiri said during the inspection. “We are committed to producing graduates who are not only employable but also capable of creating employment opportunities through innovation and entrepreneurship.”

ADCOTIES is designed as a modern centre of excellence providing practical, industry-relevant skills in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and vocational education. Its establishment is a key component of the Fintiri administration’s education and skills development agenda, complementing the administration’s investments in Model Basic Education Schools, Mega Senior Science Secondary Schools, overseas scholarship programmes, and the Adamawa Digital Academy Programme recently placed under the coordination of Dr Sumayya Babangida Sabo.

The governor was accompanied by senior government officials during the visit and reiterated his resolve to ensure the project is delivered on schedule and to the highest standards. He assured that his administration would continue to prioritise initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employment while fostering a culture of innovation among the youth.

The inspection at Gulak follows the governor’s recent pattern of personal project monitoring visits, which has included biweekly inspections of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Yola and a personal visit to the Mother and Child Hospital in Jimeta, alongside his statewide directive ordering all project structures roofed by the end of July 2026. A governor who travels to Gulak to inspect a construction site is a governor who understands that projects in remote communities face different accountability challenges than those in the state capital and that personal presence carries a different message to contractors and site managers than written directives alone.

Once completed, ADCOTIES is expected to serve as a catalyst for enterprise development, technological advancement, and sustainable economic progress across Adamawa State, particularly for the youth of the Mandara Mountains corridor whose proximity to the Cameroon border and relative distance from Yola’s urban economy has historically limited their access to the kind of technical skills that create self-employment rather than dependency on a constrained civil service job market.
