In a recent interview on KaaTruths, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, Kennedy Ahanotu, National Youth Leader of the Labour Party and presidential candidate of the Abure-led faction, spoke about internal party administration, campaign coordination, and disputes that emerged within the Labour Party after the 2023 general elections.
Ahanotu raised concerns about what he described as irregularities in party decision-making structures during the peak of the party’s national rise, particularly around the involvement of individuals in sensitive administrative roles. He argued that long-serving members of the party should ordinarily play clearer roles in such processes.
Speaking during the interview, Ahanotu stated, “How can Aisha Yesufu be a signatory to a political party that I have been in for 10 years?” He made the remark while responding to questions about campaign management, party structure, and the allocation of responsibilities during the 2023 election cycle.
According to him, political parties function best when there is clarity in hierarchy and when responsibilities are assigned based on long-standing membership and institutional experience. He maintained that disputes within the Labour Party were partly driven by disagreements over roles and authority during the campaign period.
The Labour Party chieftain further argued that stronger internal structures and clearer administrative frameworks would help prevent misunderstandings and improve trust among party members.
He also reflected on his long-standing involvement in the Labour Party, noting that he had spent years working within different levels of the organization, which he said gave him a deeper understanding of its internal operations.
Ahanotu concluded by calling for reforms within party structures, emphasizing that political organizations must prioritize discipline, clarity, and institutional respect in order to remain stable and effective ahead of future elections.
