The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure victory in the Federal Capital Territory during the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at a recent engagement in Abuja, Wike declared that the FCT, which has traditionally been a tough battleground for incumbents, will deliver its full support to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“I am confident that President Tinubu will win the FCT in 2027,” Wike stated emphatically, adding that ongoing infrastructural developments and people-oriented projects across the territory are already winning the hearts of residents.

The former Rivers State Governor noted that the Tinubu administration’s commitment to transforming the FCT into a true modern capital is visible and undeniable. He pointed to massive road constructions, improved security, and urban renewal projects as key factors that will sway voters in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Political observers believe Wike’s declaration carries significant weight given his influence in the FCT and his track record of delivering results in previous elections. Since assuming office as FCT Minister, Wike has maintained a high-profile presence, frequently engaging with stakeholders across the territory’s six area councils.

Wike further assured that he and his team remain focused on delivering good governance, stressing that performance, rather than mere promises, will be the deciding factor in 2027.

“As long as we continue to work for the people, the FCT will stand with President Tinubu,” he added.

The Minister’s comments come amid growing political permutations ahead of the next general elections, with several political heavyweights already positioning themselves for what promises to be a highly competitive race.

President Tinubu is widely expected to seek re-election on the platform of the APC, with his performance in office, particularly in the areas of economic reforms and infrastructure, forming the core of his campaign narrative.
