Amnesty International has strongly condemned a deadly attack by Boko Haram on Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area, where at least 29 people were reportedly killed.

According to the rights group, the attack occurred on Sunday, 26 April 2026, leaving residents fleeing for safety while families continue searching for loved ones who went missing during the incident.

Witnesses and survivors described horrific scenes, alleging that attackers shot victims at close range and set fire to churches, classrooms, and motorcycles.

Reports also indicated that elderly residents who could not escape were killed inside their homes, with bodies found scattered across the village.

Amnesty International further raised concerns over continued patterns of violence by Boko Haram, including the abduction of women and girls, as well as widespread looting of property in affected communities.

The organization stressed that the persistence of such attacks highlights the urgent need for stronger protection of civilians, accountability for perpetrators, and justice and reparations for victims and their families.

The incident adds to ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria, where insurgent activities continue to impact vulnerable communities.
