Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested four suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of three Cameroonian nationals whose bodies were dumped in a river in Anambra West Local Council in November 2025.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed yesterday that the arrests followed ongoing investigations into the incident.
According to him, the suspects — Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, also known as “Ugoebenajah”, 27; Nwabunne Bright, 27; Chinecherem Chiama, 21; and Michael Ekwunife, 38 — were apprehended on February 13, 2026, at a shrine in Nando, Anambra East Local Council.
Ikenga said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, acted on information obtained from two earlier suspects already in custody and traced the group to the location.
He explained that the operatives encountered resistance on arrival at the shrine, where armed men reportedly opened fire, leading to a gun duel. One of the suspects sustained a bullet wound to the thigh during the exchange and was taken to hospital for treatment.
