With only a fortnight left until the 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, excitement is mounting as over 20,000 athletes from both Nigeria and abroad have signed up for what is widely considered Africa’s most anticipated marathon.
Registration figures have soared, highlighting the race’s increasing global appeal and its reputation as a premier sporting event. This heightened interest is mirrored by robust corporate sponsorship, with backers reaffirming their confidence in a marathon poised to offer a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
For its landmark 11th edition, organisers have unveiled a new race route, signalling a historic change in the marathon’s course. For the first time, the 42km race will commence at ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, traverse parts of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, and conclude at the iconic Eko Atlantic City.
Slated for Saturday, 14th February 2026, the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is once again set to establish Lagos as a global running hub as athletes from across Africa and beyond prepare to compete for glory, personal bests, and pride on the streets of Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The marathon continues to benefit from the backing of key partners, including its headline sponsor Access Bank, the Lagos State Government, 7Up, Kia Motors, Power Oil, Brila FM, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Unilever, Eko Atlantic, Aquafina, Salonpas, Joy, Rexona, Easy Tipping, Robb, Greenlife Pharmaceuticals, and Morning Fresh, among others.
