The Lagos State Government on Friday sealed off Flourish Hotel located at New Ipaja Scheme II, Ipaja Housing Estate, AIT opposite Obasanjo Bridge Roundabout, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations. In a statement, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) said the enforcement action that led to the facility’s sealing formed part of the agency’s intensified campaign against environmental offenders across the state.
The agency emphasised that the establishment was sanctioned for repeated breaches of Lagos State environmental regulations.“Investigations revealed that the affected facility was found guilty of violating stipulated environmental standards, particularly excessive noise levels that constitute a nuisance to residents and pose risks to public health,” the statement reads in part.Speaking during the enforcement exercise, the General Manager LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and regulatory compliance across Lagos State, noting that noise pollution and other environmental abuses threaten the quality of life and well-being of residents.
He further stated that the exercise demonstrates LASEPA’s resolve to uphold environmental standards and promote a cleaner and healthier Lagos.
Ajayi appealed to residents and business operators to operate strictly within the bounds of environmental laws, emphasising that the agency will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against environmental infractions in line with the state government’s vision for a sustainable and livable Lagos.
