Bwari Area Council Residents Laud FCT Minister Wike for Inclusive Development, Endorse Grassroots Leadership

The residents and traditional leaders of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have come together in a rare display of unity to congratulate and endorse the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for the transformative development strides taking place under his leadership.

The endorsement came from all ten political wards within the Area Council — Bwari Central, Byazhin, Dutse Alhaji, Igu, Kawu, Kubwa, Kuduru, Shere, Ushafa, and Usuma — reflecting widespread support from the grassroots. According to community members, Minister Wike’s leadership has brought a wave of unprecedented infrastructural growth and inclusive governance that is being felt across all corners of the FCT.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, respected community leaders hailed Minister Wike as a “Godsend” to the FCT. They noted that within just two years of assuming office, the Minister has managed to achieve what others had struggled to accomplish in far longer periods. They emphasized that the development currently unfolding across the territory transcends political lines, with residents of all political affiliations, religions, ethnicities, and social classes united in their admiration for Wike’s bold approach to governance.

“Minister Wike has brought hope to our communities. For the first time, residents in remote and urban parts of Bwari feel seen, heard, and prioritized. The roads are being fixed, schools are being renovated, hospitals are receiving attention, and major infrastructure projects are underway,” the Bwari leaders said.

Among the most celebrated projects in the area are the ongoing construction of the Bwari–Gurara and Bwari–Igu roads, which had long been neglected. Residents expressed deep appreciation for these efforts, stating that improved roads will significantly ease transportation, boost economic activities, and enhance access to healthcare and education for surrounding communities.

Riding on the wave of Minister Wike’s achievements, many residents in Bwari are now advocating for continuity in leadership through the emergence of capable grassroots leaders. A significant portion of the community is rallying behind Hassan Musa Mohammed, a young and energetic community organizer, whom they are endorsing for the position of Chairman of Bwari Area Council in the upcoming Area Council elections.

Supporters describe Hassan as a forward-thinking and people-oriented leader with deep roots in the community and the proven ability to galvanize support across all demographics. They believe his leadership style mirrors that of Minister Wike , firm, inclusive, development-focused, and transparent.

“Hassan Musa Mohammed represents a new generation of leadership that is connected to the people’s needs. He understands the challenges we face at the grassroots level and has the capacity to build on the foundation already laid by Minister Wike,” said another resident, Fatima Abdullahi, from the Kuduru ward.

Bwari Area Council is one of the most strategically important councils within the FCT. It is home to numerous national institutions and critical infrastructure that serve both residents of the capital and the nation at large. Some of these include:
• Nigerian Law School, a premier institution for legal education in Nigeria
• JAMB Headquarters and UTME CBT Centre, central to the national tertiary entrance examination system
• Bwari General Hospital, providing essential healthcare services to residents
• Dorben Polytechnic and Veritas University, contributing to youth development and higher education
• Federal Government Girls College, a notable secondary institution
• Usuma (Usman) Dam, the primary source of potable water for Abuja residents

Given this concentration of vital assets, residents believe the council deserves consistent attention and sustained investment. They see the current momentum created by Minister Wike’s administration as a foundation to build upon and are urging for continued progress through the election of visionary, grassroots-aligned leaders.

The strong show of support for Minister Nyesom Wike and the emerging endorsement of young leaders like Hassan Musa Mohammed reflect a broader shift in the political landscape of Bwari Area Council. The people are no longer content with rhetoric; they demand , and are celebrating , visible results. With unity, vision, and community-driven leadership, the future of Bwari Area Council and the broader FCT appears brighter than ever.
