Despite security blockage, Sanusi vows to install Bichi District Head

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has vowed to fix a fresh date for the official coronation and installation of Alh. Munir Sanusi as the new district head of Bichi Emirate.

The new Bichi chief, who also serves as the Wambai of Kano, was appointed to replace Nasiru Ado Bayero, the younger brother of Aminu Ado Bayero, both of whom were removed from the throne by the Kano State government.

However, the coronation of the new Bichi chief was interrupted by security forces who barricaded the Kano and Bichi palaces, restricting Emir Sanusi’s movement and preventing him from attending the Bichi coronation.

Addressing the Bichi community, who were on a traditional homage on Wednesday, Emir Sanusi expressed his confusion over the reasoning behind the revolt against the appointment of the new district head.

He reassured the community that the new Bichi chief would be inaugurated despite any security threats and insisted, “There is no way a son of the Khalifa will be taken to them as the Wambai and they will turn their backs on him.”

According to Sanusi, whenever you see a people trying to break the peace being enjoyed by the public, you don’t become part of it, rather, you exercise patience because that time will come and pass.“I know the people of Bichi are peace-loving people. Bichi is also a land of educated people with good religious ideology. More so, with the way the people of Bichi revered the Khalifa and Wambai Abubakar, there is no way a son of the Khalifa will be taken to them as the Wambai and they will turn their backs on him.

“What happened on Friday is only a distraction. We still don’t know why it happened, and those involved have not told us the reason why they did it. However, this will not stop anything. I assure you that another day will be fixed and your district head will surely be brought to you, and everything will take place peacefully,” Sanusi assured.

Earlier, the leader of the delegates and Chairman of Bichi Local Government, Hon. Hamza Sule Maifata, told the emir that they were at the palace in solidarity with the appointment of the new district head, Alh. Munir Sanusi.

The Bichi chairman explained that all stakeholders, including the Imams, Village Heads, Ward Heads, and youths, are willing to receive the new district head.
