A coalition of Almajiri Groups has endorsed the Tinubu/Shettima Ticket. After intense deliberations, the group gauged all the options available to it and the program and manifestos of all the presidential candidates- the group endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima as the ticket with the requisite qualities to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023-
The group’s National Chairman Sheik Muhammad Auwal said, the group has transformed and is now known as The Tinubu/Shettima Almajiri Support Group. In a Press Release signed by Sheik Auwal, the group said Tinubu’s promise made in Kano- to set up a Special Commission for the Almajiri was the main reason the group endorsed the Tinubu/Shettima Ticket and promised to campaign for it throughout northern Nigeria The group further said that Nigeria needs the personalities like Tinubu and Shettima who are well prepared to dispassionately look at the challenge confronting the country and be ready to take bold even if uncomfortable decisions to steer Nigeria away from the precipice.
The Tinubu Shettima Almajiri Group has members from all the Islamic sects in the country and has conducted many programs and projects in collaboration with the sects, it conducted programs and projects that support the Almajiri in getting proper Islamic education, feeding, clothing, and healthcare. The group also said it has over 2.5 registered and well-documented Almajiri who the group takes care of – to prevent them from roaming the streets. The group said it will campaign for Tinubu and Shettima to get more than 20 million votes for them from the north because of two reasons: Tinubu has promised to set up a Special Commission for Almajiri to craft a lasting solution to their challenges, and, Shettima as Governor of Borno state has done very well in supporting the Almajiri well-being and welfare, describing Shettima as a product of both Islamic and western knowledge who truly understands the needs of people with special needs like the Almajiri.
