2023: APC Shouldn’t Blame The North- Stakeholders

Some APC stakeholders from the north have told the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its southwest branches not to blame the north, if the north refuse to vote for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Reports indicate that the northern stakeholders have demanded for power transition to the younger generation, in order to pacify the younger generation to safeguard the elites’ political, economic and social interest. However, the selection of Kasim Shettima is in contrast to the demand.

Initially, the forces’ move was to have a young presidential candidate, however since all the presidential candidates are from the old generation, they have settled for a young person as the vice presidential candidate.

Some reports indicate that the Vice Presidential candidate will still come from the northeast, but a young person with some experience in youth affairs, party politics, belonging to the largest voting bloc- the Muslim north, as well as endorsed by same old generation political class. The expectation among the elites was a former youth leader in the APC is tipped to be the VP candidate to bring younger generation to power.

Apart from the aforementioned, there are reports that Shettima has not blended well with many of the northern elites, he has becomes arrogant and doesn’t attract the ‘north core vote, some sources said.

So the stakeholders has strongly told the APC and the southwest not to blame the north if the north decline its voting bloc to the APC as the result of the failure of Tinubu to do a true handshake across the niger to pacify the younger generation and kickstart power transition from the old generation to the generation to safeguard the polity and elites’ interests
